Project Management – Cabling Infrastructure Design – Network Deployment

This Las Vegas luxury hotel casino is situated on the “Strip” in Las Vegas Nevada. The 3.9-billion dollar project features 3000+ rooms, a 75,000 sq.ft. casino, 300,000 sq. ft. of retail space, 150,00 sq. ft convention and meeting space as well as spa and fitness areas.

Gazos was selected to provide design assistance and construction management for 79 enterprise communication rooms and 3000 “in room” communications closets and to deploy all network hardware. Responsibilities included:
  • Structured cabling design review

    Project Management

    This major resort experienced a devastating flood on May 3, 2010. This devastating flood destroyed significant portions of the technology infrastructure.

    Within days after the flood, Gazos Creek was selected to assist with technology redeployment. Gazos assisted in the development of program and project level planning for the re-building of IT infrastructure. Gazos provided interface to diverse technical, departmental and corporate entities which assisted in bringing the landmark back into service.

    Specific efforts included development of the original program profile and documentation processes as well as project management of TCP/IP network infrastructure design and digital signage design and deployment. Gazos assisted in developing both technical and financial solutions.

    Our client, a major development company, required IT support for a multi-phase construction project encompassing multiple sites across a major metropolitan area. Gazos Creek was responsible for technology design and multi-tenant construction project management. This included infrastructure, data, voice (VOIP), WAN, Internet, Mail, Access Control and Video Surveillance.

    Network Design - Procurement - Implementation

    Due to the need for high bandwidth and secure services in an academic environment, this major cancer research center needed a partner with experience and innovative ideas. Gazos was chosen to provide vendor selection assistance and network design/build services for this world class research and laboratory facility. The solution Gazos deployed provided a highly flexible LAN environment and redundant Gigabit Ethernet Backbone utilizing secured VLANs to increase bandwidth and reliability. Specific tasks included:

  • Design of high bandwidth & Redundant voice/data infrastructure
  • Design and deployment of interface with Major University Backbone
  • Implemented Firewall, VPN and DMZ for secure remote connectivity
  • Conducted Cost, Feasibility and Technical studies for transport solution
  • Designed copper & fiber to the desktop (233,000 feet of fiber)

    Communications Design and Cost Assessment

    This major University required a partner with experience with inter-building and intra-building environments to provide high level design services for a new campus. Gazos was selected as the primary consultant by Enterprise Network Services to provide vision and planning direction for this effort. Over a four year period Gazos contracted services included:

  • Preliminary telecommunications design
  • Transition of existing campus
  • Redesign of the 100+ remote site Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) serving the University and partner hospitals in Northern California
  • Evaluation of traditional and alternative carriers for telecommunications distribution including extensive engineering of carrier(s) Minimum Point of Entry (MPOE)


  • Project deliverables:

  • Engineering and budgetary documents providing location, design and transition of all communications services including voice, data, Internet, video, security and card reader services.
  • CAD drawings and documentation management for redundant and survivable communications infrastructure considering constraints of budget, construction code, carrier requirements and growth.

    Network Design and Deployment

    This major University required a partner with extensive Wide Area Network experience to propose and implement a new campus wide network backbone. Gazos Creek is responsible for conversion of the Metropolitan Area Network to a new 10 Gigabit DWDM backbone. This conversion includes a necessary upgrade of campus telecommunications rooms to provide increase cooling, power and space. Gazos services included:

  • Design Documents and Bid Packages for cabling and pathway subsystems.
  • Network Electronics BOM review for all DWDM core Layer 2 and 3 equipment.
  • Telecommunications Room elevation drawings
  • Project requirements: To integrate with construction and server teams. All design compliant with Division 17/25. This project consisted of migrating 1500+ pairs of single and multimode cable, 30+ carrier copper circuits and a metropolitan SONET ring serving multiple campuses, 2 hospitals, and approximately 100 remote sites. Project required significant coordination with hospital information systems, federal research projects, education, security, and users voice and data providers.

    Infrastructure Design and Deployment

    This start up company required a partner with deep network architecture experience to support development of an real time, auction based display for online display advertising. Gazos Creek was chosen for the design and deployment of the network for this company which was eventually purchased by Microsoft. Through simulation techniques and traffic modeling, Gazos was able to design and deploy a network that produced production transaction speeds of 12 milliseconds. During the simulation phase, Gazos was asked to present findings to current and potential investors to allow this startup to capitalize. Ultimately the viability of such a complex computational environment was successful.
